This Juneteenth, JCPenney joined in the march alongside Dr. Opal Lee in Opal’s Walk for Freedom, an annual event originally started in an effort to make Juneteenth a nationally recognized holiday and continued today to raise awareness of its importance. This is JCPenney’s third year participating in the walk, and its second year supporting its organizing sponsor, Unity Unlimited, Inc., with its Hope & Wonder Juneteenth collection.
“JCPenney’s purpose as a brand is to celebrate and serve America’s diverse families,” said Shenece Johns, JCPenney Head of Inclusion & Diversity. “It’s really important for JCPenney to continue to show up and be in the forefront of these celebrations.”
Detailed coverage of the annual 2.5 mile walk in Fort Worth, TX could be seen on NBC 5 DFW.
